Credit Cards

Should I hit the NFCU CC Apply Button?

I’ve been a member since January-10 and initially wanted to wait until the end of the year to apply for a cc and navcheck loc.  I have paid down a nice chunck of my cc debt but still have around 45% util on my revolving debt.  I currently have 12 accounts with 6 reporting zero balances and all 12 are being paid as agreed, no lates.  I have 4 inquires in the last 12mos and none after may.  I have (1) CO and (1) 120 days, both date back to 2003 and will be deleted in December.

I redecorated two rooms in my house last year and racked up several thousand dollars in debt under a promotional zero payments and zero finance plan from three different stores but now it’s time to pay the piper and I didn’t pay the balances as planned and all the interest will have acrued since the purchases, these are store cards so the interest rates are ridiculous!  My purpose for wanting to apply now for nfcu cc and/or navcheck loc is to move the debt to one card/loc with a much lower APR.  My EQ score is currently 647 but I am terrified to apply because the creditor I have the two delinquencys with is "Alliant CU", I know I screwed up big time but I was in my mid 20’s and lost my job when I let those accounts go bad.  I’m afraid that nfcu will see that I had a bad credit relationship with another cu and deny me.  However, I really do need to move this debt to a lower APR so, do you think I have a chance of an approval?

what is my best option to pay off?

I have a BOA card with a balance of 579 on a 700$ limit  and I have a Home Depot Card with a 810 dollar balance on a 1K limit. I have an extra 150 this month to put towards CC debt. By paying 150 towards which balance would help my credit the most? Thank you.

Opening Credit Line

I know there is no definitive answer to the question but I am wondering, at what FICO score’s do people start getting large Credit Lines? My FICO’s are 658, 654, and 641. I havent applied for any new credit cards as I am waiting for my mortgage to be appreoved but the 3 cards I have now are all starter cards. $450, $420, and $275 credit lines. and a $1000 CL from fingerhut. My last W-2 showed 71K as my pay for the year. Any ideas?

Barclay’s Bank Credit Card (Carnival Sea Miles) – Denied…any suggestions?

I applied for a Barclays credit card on Saturday and found out today after checking the status of my application online that I was denied. I know it was automatically generated, and it stated that it evaluated me based on numerical values based on repayment history of large numbers of customers. My FICO score is 613 as of 2/24, and probably went up because I paid down a credit card to zero balance. I have one paid collection, and a late payment from March 2009 (Jared account; account current and has a zero balance now). It also said "Insufficient credit history". I just sent a letter to them using Planetfeedback.com explaining in detail the potentially negative items listed on my credit report. It had the CEO’s name on the letter before I sent it, so I guess it going straight to him.  Should I send a letter to them via USPS to underwriting as well, or just wait on the response from PF? Does anyone have any other suggestions for another card that I can try that pulls TU? Thanks in advance for any and all advice!

Goodbye BoA, Hello HSBC!

Well, BoA decidded to close all my cards except one leaving me with a $2,500.00 credit line, and 28.99% intrest rate. So I decided to ty the HSBC pre-approval link today, and sure enough I was approved for the ecoSmartMaster Card with a $2,500 line at 17.74% intrest and 6 months 0%. Hopefully HSBC will grow with me so I can try and get back the $20k line that BoA took away from me.

NFCU Does it again!

I Just called to ask questions about opening a FlagShip card, So I can earn some points, some rewards. The lady I spoke to was by far the most helpfull customer service rep I think I have ever spoke to. She answered my questions and gave me some advice on when I needed to apply for the Flagship card.

Then She asked about my Cash rewards card and getting a CLI, she explained that it was a soft pull and that It would that a few mins and answer a few questions.  This card was opened with a $2500 limit 6 months ago.  I got a CLI to $7000.00.  Makes for a good day. I will be applying for the FlagShip card this coming Fri.

Which companies only pull EQ applications in NYC?

My Fico scores are EQ 798 TU 762   (only two accounts on both)

My Ex report still has one older charge off that they will not remove.

I have spent three years reparing my credit (my scores were in the 500’s on all three CRA’s) and am ready to apply for another credit card and would like it to be based on the EQ report if possible.  I currently have no inquiries and only want one more Card.   Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance for your help :)

Closing a Credit Card

Recently opened up a department store credit card to receive saving son new appliances and the like.  We have the money to pay it off when the bill comes in.  Should we close the card right away or keep it open?  It will have only been open for about a month by the time we pay it off and then close it

First, I absolutely love this site!!!! Thanks to all the wonderful folks who help compile all the valuable information!

I applied for a Barklay’s Carnival Visa over the weekend…and got denied.  I called the back door number 30mins ago…and after 5 minutes I was reconsidered and approved for a $1500 CL.  Excellent!
