Well this is sort of bad and good. I have a younger brother who has a similar name and same home address, and social # off by one number. Pretty much, our credit reports were mixed on transunion. I disputed some of his items on my credit report and told Transunion that a lot of the items on my credit report weren’t mine, blah blah, and submitted brothers/mine ids for verification. Long story short, knowing how stupid credit bureaus are, Transunion merged everything under my brother’s name. My credit report got wiped out. Well, this was 3 years ago. Now, my credit is fixed on both experian and equifax with good legitimate tradelines. How do i go about reporting these tradelines on Transunion. I have a discovery card, bofa, macys. Can I send a letter to Transunion with the account numbers? I tried calling discover and they keep telling me they are reporting to Transunion, but when I try to pull credit report from Transunion, it says that my credit file does not exist. I’m sort of in a catch 22. Any advice, opinions, strategies will be appreciated.Â
Is there a running list of Collection Agency that accept PFD’s or GW’s?Â
Â
What happens when you send a GW, will they usually respond with a yes or no. Or if they decide to will they just do it and not notify me?
Dear Forum
Â
I sent a pre-hippa letter for three medical disputes 14 days ago and yesterday I received a letter asking for acceptable verification and identification
teh letter says:
Thank you for your letter requesting a copy of your credit report. ….. Need proof of identity:
Name (drivers license)
SS# paystub
Current address drivers license
date of birth
…if they do not receive the requested documents they will not be able to complete my request.Â
Â
I am confused, I sent the letter pre-hippa for validation with my ssnumber, address, report number, etc. Am I supposed to send them more documentation or should wait till the 30 days and send letter number two. I am afraid that tthis is a delay and the clock will reset to when I send them more information.
Â
what should I do? Is their request a valid request?

Need some answers.I have 3 charge offs from 2004.This was the last time any reporting was done to the CRA’s.Does that mean they will drop off this year since this is the 7th year?
Thanks for any help…
Are there any credit monitoring services that offer 7 year credit reports? I’d like to start sending out GW letters for prior baddies, but the two credit monitoring services I currently use (CCT & SW) only provide 2 year reports. I’d rather not buy 3 separate reports.
This is my first post. I’ve heard you guys give great, personalized advice, so here is my detailed information. Thanks in advance!!
Â
Equifax credit score: 621
Goal: 700+
Length of credit history: 11 Years , 11 Months
Inquiries: 3 in the last 2 years, most recent was June 2010
Negative accounts: 4
Collections: 1
Â
Car loan
Balance owed = $4,391
Limit = $14,663
This is paid on time each month. There are several previous late payments, but the most recent was March 2010. Would it help to dispute this? I talked to one of their reps on the phone at the time, and it was supposed to be a one-time deferred payment (one allowed per year), so the late wasn’t supposed to be reported.
Â
Clothing store credit card
Balance = $0
Limit = $250
Last late payment (150 days late) = March 2008
Â
Furniture store credit card
Balance = $0
Limit = $1,867
Status = Charge Off/ Comments = “Paid charge off”
Â
This obviously, was paid in full. I sent a goodwill letter but did not hear back.
Â
Collection
Amount owed = $283
This was for an old cell phone account. I got a “settlement opportunity” today. It says if they receive $169.82 by 2/20/2011, they will consider the “account balace paid in full”. Should I take advantage of this? Or other advice? The last date reported was 1/2011, so this isn’t dropping off anytime soon, even though the account became delinquent in 2007.
Â
Credit Card
Balance = $5,180
Limit = $5,500
Â
No late payments reported. This card has a ridiculously high interest rate -Â 29%. I tried to get them to lower it, but they said no, that it was fair based on current federal rates. I also tried to get them to increase the limit, but was again told no, and that I could ask again in April. We (my husband and I)Â are getting about $1000 back from our taxes and I was thinking of putting it on this card to bring the balance down. We were going to use it to start our savings for a down payment on a house. It’s also important to note that I have not used this card in almost a year (March 2010) because of the interest rate.
Â
Line of credit/overdraft protection
Balance = $452.56 (reporting as $466 to Equifax)
Limit = $500
Â
Money is automatically drafted from my account each month to go towards the balance. I could easily pay this off in about three months. How much would paying it off raise my score? I just looked, and it makes me sick that I paid $93 in interest to this last year!
Â
Thanks for any and all advice!!
So i Emailed Afni a GW letter to delete an old account that was paid. I got an email the next day saying they are deleting it from all 3 CRA’s. woohoo! However, i’m still digging out of a deep hole. Unfortunately, the afni collections was one of the only collection’s that was actually paid. I just went through all of my TL’s and found past debts with CA and OC. Everything is from 2006 so fortunately my SOL’s is almost up with everything (6 years) I’m now kind of at a loss for what to do next. I want to start getting these baddies of my CR. Do I start mailing these places for PFD’s? Do i try the DV first? Do I wait until SOL is up? Or do i wait 2 more years until everything hits the 7 year mark and falls off my CR? I really appreciate the help and this forum has given me lots of hope. A couple months ago I was starting the Chapter 7 process but now believe i can do it without chapter 7.
Just got an alert and went and pulled a new equifax report from myfico, and I went from 620 to 640………….Im very happy. Â I have been working like crazy the last 3 weeks to get some movement. Â I have read every thing there is to read on this forum and signed up for everything. Â With the knowledge gained here, I removed myself as a AU from a friends home depot card which carried a 10k balance on a 15k limit. Â I then paid down some of my revolving credit and then filed dispute on current balances on those revolving accounts……………….and boom, I have my 20 point bump today. Â I still have 2 revolving accounts showing wrong balance(I have also paid these way down as well) so when these accounts report, I should be due another good bump.
Â
Funny tho I didnt get my alert from scorewatch. Â I got it from my membership with Equifax. Â I have all my alert settings set just like all these forums say to do and still no alert. Â Thats a bit frustrating. Â I really dont want to have to pay membership at equifax, however, it seems as though thats best way to get alerts.
Â
Im really tempted to pull another TU and see what it has jumped to as well
Please inform me on how to begin the disputing with the credit bureaus and credit card companies….Also on using goodwill letters since I know much of my lates are valid…Step by Step please, I am a newbie

Should I hire a repair company?
